"Our core values are pictures or images that we hold in the eye of our mind that define for us what life is supposed to look like. These pictures are both conscious and unconscious and there is an enormous amount of emotion associated with these images and with what they represent to us on many levels." -Andrew Cohen

A flor de Piel or A la muerte que me dishes le faltaron Alas

Length: 30 minutes.

Originally, this piece was intended to be presented as a Movement Research Artist in Residence in 2011 in New York. But ultimately, significant changes occurred just weeks before, with JSR joining Sasha Waltz and Guest, and moving to Berlin, Germany in 2011. "A Flor de Piel" redefines precision, weaving together layers of rhythm, direction, and diagonal lines that evolve into youthful ennui, playful clawing, and eccentric dances against gravity. This solo has been created to be performed at alternative spaces such as museums, galleries, and stage settings.

I am a nation unto myself, wrapped as a gift bearing a unique scent. I am the black widow who remained within, not falling prey to happenstance. I am the rock’n’roll bride showering in sunlight amidst the park's greenery, not beholden to conventional expectations. Today, I embody whoever I choose to be —tomorrow is no concern of mine.

PORTRAIT OF AN ANTI-HERO

Texas Woman's University, Texas, US, 2018

Length: 10 Minutes

“Life is an unconditional event that we are ever certain of.”

The piece appropriates the “Yo” that rethinks and rebuilds itself permanently. The improvisational, interactive solo work intentionally plays with the imposition in capitalist societies and presents ideas in a unique and engaging puzzle of an improvisational format. Using storytelling as composition.

It was performed as a Guest Artist at the Texas Dance Improvisation Festival 2018. And it is based on Functionality and perspective  and Your own god Improvisation methodologies.
