the jsr company

As the founder, director, and choreographer of JSR Company since 2010, Sánchez focuses on exploring human interaction within urban landscapes. The company's mission is to address topics that resonate with a diverse range of people, aiming to foster social dialogue and meaningful debates in various locations, collectives, and communities. Sanchez's dedication to exploring the connections between history, architecture, and art in society has developed a trans-disciplinary approach to space-related matters from a geo-political perspective.

Sánchez's choreography often delves into the intricate interplay of subjects, prioritizing layered exploration over rote memorization or mechanistic movements. This approach is evident in her significant works, including "ENCAJE" (2017), "ENCAJE FOR TEN" (2019 & 2021), and "My Breast on the Table" (2019). Improvisation, community involvement, and activism form integral components of her artistic practice.

She received funding from Dance Reflections de Van Cleef & Arpels, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and The O'Donnell-Green Music and Dance Foundation for her inaugural commissioned choreography, "Let's Talk About Bleeding," for the Trisha Brown Dance Company. The piece premiered at the Joyce Theater in New York from May 2-7, 2023.

Her site-specific creations have been staged at prestigious venues such as The Whitney Museum, The Walker Art Center, Invisible Dog Art Center, Storm King Art Center, and The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in NYC. She has also presented her works at international festivals and institutions, including Dance Days of Chania Festival in Greece, Danzad Danzad Malditos Festival in Pamplona, Girne American University School of Performing Arts in Cyprus, Master Arts Programme "Spatial Strategies" at Weißensee Kunsthochschule, ACUD MACHT NEU, and Trauma Bar Kino in Berlin.
